Manhunt
Bill and Evelyn were in the jungle - no cottage no Jaguar - no nothing, except maybe
tarantulas. It was dark, but moonlit. Evelyn whispered, "hear that?" Bill tried listening.
"Crack.- snap - crack." Then, about five or six men came crashing through the trees and
bushes.
"Thought you saw the last of us huh?" It was Ed Sharp and his crew. He was hissing like a
snake. Boy was he mad. "We made our own camp, caught our own food, shot wild pigs. I'm
going to kill your friend as soon as I find him. Where is he?" Bill did not know what to say. He
couldn't process all this that quickly. "I don't understand what's going on. What's happening?"
"You know exactly what's happening - the two of you - the girl too - it's a plot and you're all
going to prison for life - if you're lucky." He was hissing. You could nearly see his fangs, large
teeth about to strike, "We are Federal Law Officers - this is treason. We have reason to
believe you are plotting against the United States of America."
Bill feared for their lives. We'll help you Ed - in any way we can. Please put your guns
away. Evelyn is very upset."
This worked and Ed seemed to take a long breath and settle down some. "You'd better
cooperate. It's the wisest thing you could do."
He came to his senses. It was Vietnam all over again and the gooks all
around you. Popping their rifles off. Pop pop pop - hitting the trees and the ground around
you. "Get down!", was all he could say and the whole patrol got down as low as they could
and began looking around. The popping stopped and someone whispered. "Maybe they left".
It was quiet and Ed was back in Costa Rica and doing his job. He breathed deeply again.
"OK, I want to find Harry."
