We All Still Love You Harry

                                                        Beginnings

Both Harry and Bill started smoking at the same time. It could have been a meteorological coincidence, some sort of galactic eclipse. It's not certain, but some very serious scientists have forwarded the idea, albeit privately, that great scientific achievements follow primary lines almost as central in importance as the story of creation itself, and that the history of Harry Adelman and Bill Levin carries along with it many events singular for their importance in the development of man's understanding of the structure and meaning of the physical universe he lives in. Silly as it might sound, Bill Levin wrote in "Beginnings", that "they were only eighteen when they started smoking. It was raining on 33rd street and a classmate offed the both of them a cigarette and they 'fell into it' - the habit fit the early morning class just like the coffee they were drinking and they became part of the fabric of the time, even though they were new to Philadelphia and the Moore School."

One has to understand that something as important as the holographic transfer of living tissue is a major step, perhaps a key step, in man's development, in his understanding of who he is and where he is and why. Similar in importance as Newton's laws perhaps or Einstein's famous equations and theories about time and space. People wanted to know where this came from. You enter a car, push a button, and you're on a different planet, perhaps a different galaxy a million light years away! This is not small stuff. It works. The people who developed it, understand and can explain it's workings in very simple language. How can this be? It's as new as language and perhaps even thought itself. People were afraid of the steam engine when it first began to move things around. They denied the world was round, even though it could easily be explained and proven. And, so began centuries of explanation until the average human being on this earth could have the reality of sitting on a jet plane and travelling from New York to Calcutta in a matter of hours. Just that, to have that be real.
